Sold in packs of 100 seeds.
Plants of 1-171 have strong anthocyanin expression on the stigma and moderate expression of anthocyanin on the hypocotyl, cotyledons, stems, leaves, hydathodes, sepal tips and anther spots.
In the dwarf genetic background, leaves, stems, and flowers are reduced in size.
The number of hairs on leaves and stem is low and variable. Seeds are brown.
This stock was selected and bred from 1-172 which originated from crossing multiple Brassica rapa vegetables with multiple lines of rapid-cycling Brassica rapa. In the F3 of the initial cross a light purple anthocyanin expressing stigma was found on a single plant. Through selective breeding the purple stigma trait was successfully bred for high anthocyanin expression with anthocyaninless bud tips.
